PROFESSIONAL AND JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE:
Judge Burnstein has enjoyed a very distinguished legal and judicial career, being the first woman elected as a Broward County Circuit Judge in September 1976. Judge Burnstein served in the Juvenile, Criminal and Civil Divisions and served as Chief Judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit from 1985 through 1991.
She completed numerous courses at the National Judicial College, Reno, Nevada. Additionally, she served as a National Judicial College Faculty Member and Faculty Member of Florida New Judges College.
HONORS:
Judge Burnstein has received multiple honors and awards, including being named in Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in the South and the Southwest, Hollywood Business and Professional Women’s Club “Woman of the Year” (1978), Brandeis University National Women’s Committee “Woman of Achievement” (1985), recipient of Certificate of Appreciation from Broward County Bar Association (1985) and the Broward Lawyers Care Award (1990).
